What goes into a logo

Recovering from a hellacious cold yesterday, I puttered about in the studio, and checked my rather large pile of orders. There was one from myself, so I was excited to get into that one, and yes, the finished project contains the results of my runny nose, so it really is me. I have wanted to make a 3d plaque of my doodled logo, seen here to the right and below, the piggy and pot. I don't see myself as a piggy, of course, just that I make a lot of them, and simply think it is a funny logo, plus I can doodle it anytime, anywhere. So, similar to the beer blog plaque below, and representing myself, I made this guy up here. Above on the scroll will be my name, below will be 'potter'. I should mention here that I am not a small pot specialist, like some potters, but I do make micro pots pretty well. This little pot is about an inch tall, and I threw it on the wheel as I would for a larger vase, but my fingers are too big, and I used chopsticks to form it.

You need a Latin motto for the Brown Trout Pottery. Our McLeod clan motto is "Hold Fast" - oddly not in Gaelic or old Norse. What is Latin for "Throw Only In Peace"?

Well, Gordo, I am sure you mean the big smile on this pig, as I am not porky. But yes, I am trying to draw a triple parallel here, between me, the doodle of pig and pot, and the plaque. If I win the mega millions jackpot I am going to give downtown Etna the bar and cafe it so badly needs, and call it The Pig and Pot.

That's exactly what I meant, Gary. He's a happy, carefree little guy.

I know gordo, but some people look at me funny, to see if I have messy and smelly piggy type habits, thinking there must be some kind of link there.
Alan-I had Greek and Spanish in school and forgot them immediately. I can see the rather handsome wooden sign hanging above my pub though, looking like this plaque, an appropriate clay version of which shall stand NEXT to the door, saying 'The Pig and Pot' and people shall flock from all over to drink frothy brews at my counter. Since I will be a millionaire, I can hire people to do all the work for me, and I can pull drinks (espresso until 4, beer after) when I wish, and hold forth on important and amusing topics with my neighbors and regulars.

4? No pint with lunch, then.

That's right. Because I want one of those big brass and steel babies, in my dreams, with a little eagle on it and valves all over and espresso at the twist of my wrist. I am fair: no espresso after 4, no beer before four.

But I don't like espresso. :-(

Tea available ANY time of day in my cafe and bar. I've been slurping Earl Grey and mint all afternoon!

Oh, I see , take a nice beer and mix it with coffee? Canadians sure are strange.....

Friend of mine almost bought some coffee porter and the guy at the LCBO advised against it, saying it tasted like cold coffee.

Basically, you ruin a cup of coffee AND a beer? That's probably illegal in some states.

cm, that coffee porter is wonderful.
