we have seen the future......

And it might be the Ithaca Art Trail. The question for the potter every year is 'how do we locate the tourist from New Jersey, get them in front of my work, and most importantly, get them to open their wallets and fling cash at me?'. No joking here, let's bring those foolish spenders HERE, to the studio, and sweet talk them.....

There are at least two organized "studio tours" in the Kingston area, Gary. I see the same names on them every year, so they must work. I suspect that being part of a permanent "trail" might be an expensive proposition, no? The trick would be getting value for money.

The hope, Gordo, is that it pays off and allows a person to work at home and make money, rather than schlepping all over the place, wearing out your back carrying boxes.

That's an admirable goal. I've gone on the Spring studio tour once and found it fascinating. I don't recall any potters, though ....

There seem to be about 5-6 other people in ceramics. Should I say I am gonna kick their a$$?

Now, that wouldn't be veyr sportsmanlike, would it? How many other ceramic artists specializing in googly-eyed creatures are there?

You see, Gordo, that is MY ADVANTAGE.

Yep, it sure is. You want plain, old pots or plates? Go see the other guys. You want whimsy and creativity? Gary's the man!

Note to readers: appreciative comments like Gordo's may result in free merchandise.

You'll go broke that way, Gary ... :-D

Sort of a conundrum? Nice comments equals nice comments and no sales, so I should make ugly pots and try to sell them?
