About Me

- Gary Rith is a full-time studio potter and also an instructor of pottery at Cornell University's Pot Shop. Gary started learning pottery in 1983. In 1985 he served as an apprentice to Dean White of Deansboro, NY and earned a bachelor's degree in art from Bennington College in 1987. He has been a full-time sculptor and potter since 1997. Gary started his business in New Hamspshire, where he was selected as a member of the League of New Hampshire Craftsmen in 2004 and in 2005 was named one of New Hampshire's Emerging Ceramics Artists. He moved to the Ithaca, NY area in 2006, near where he grew up, and is happily making pots and sculpture in a purple house on Fall Creek. Gary likes to laugh, and his first goal is to have fun making pots.

Some people who either uptight or my parents, can't really understand the silliness at this blog--'this is how you try to sell stuff?'. Well, I am having fun here, you see, and it is all true. I am dressed now, although I threatened my wife that I was going to grow some creative facial hair, which caused her to turn green.
Irony: the dude who is 'so busy' has to stop and photograph his jammies and post it....

I went slipper shopping on Saturday. She Who Must Be Obeyed had decreed that my old ones were too aromatic. I must shop at the wrong places, because I sure didn't seen any as cool as your, Gary.
That said, I do have a pair of humongous moose slippers. It's like wearing blankets on my feet, though.
Thanks, Big D, and the secret is this: average fleece slippers+sense of humor+wife with good sewing skils=dog slippers, and mouse slippers too.
Ahh, that explains it. You can't beat connections.
