oooo, what a lucky man he was....

(wiki piccy, four-leaf clover)
The first four-leaf clover I found was actually a five-leaf clover, next to a six-leaf clover. They often grow in little bunches together, and I have found over 200 in my lifetime. The earliest was in a melted patch of mud surrounded by snow in March, the most I have found in one day is eleven, which I have done two different times, and I have found a seven-leafed clover. Today breaks a new record, I think, because I found a four-leaf clover in the park: the first ever in January. The first ever in real winter. It is almost 60 degrees and sunny out there in northern NY.
But more on good fortune. I am a fortunate dude in every way. I have a fantastic spouse and dogs and cats, a great house, and probably the best career on earth, and as Gordo has said 'Time do what you WANT instead of what you HAVE to do is what truly makes a person rich'. By that standard, I am a billionaire.

And the rest of us are envious.

The weather is unnatural.

Gordo, thre was a guy in 'Slackers' who said something like 'I might not live well but at least I don't have to work'. Let me rewrite that. I don't live an expensive life, but I don't have to work for anyone else. Speaking of which, my boss says I need to finish a rack of bowls and mugs...

Does your boss often talk to you? Does he yell at you like the police sargeants in campy 80's movies? If so, I'd say you might need a little extra sleep.

You are indeed a lucky lucky man. I am hereby counting myself into your billionaire's club. I work hard at raising the kids and caring for the house, but at least I work for me and call the shots and when the twins are in school, I will have lots of that time I dream of to do things. But in actuality, I have a lot of time now. :-)

A person wonders if little twins are like a little circus around the house. You might not know it Mags, but Gordo has a little boy the same age. He is a charmer, and smiles all the time.
Just checked the numbers: todays' 4-leaf was number 249 in my life. I have saved them all, except for the ones I gave to friends. Under 'c' in the dictionary.
The boss got a bit mad just now, as an experimental cup did what 95 percent of experiments do: flopped. Time for some more tea and gossip, then I can face the boss again.

I tried working for myself for awhile, but I didn't have the self-discipline or drive to run a business.

I keep telling Bridget that my next career change (I'm on #3 now) will be something totally unlike aything before. Possibly sheep farming.

Sheep seem very placid and peaceful. We just got a stack of 'All Creatures Great and Small' dvds. I love them! Little sheep on rugged hillside pastures in Yorkshire....

Bridget grew up on a farm and her father had a small flock of sheep (along with the cattle). She assures me that they're the dumbest creatures on the planet. I told her they can't be worse than University undregrads. ;-)

I remember that about Br. On an island, yes?
Scotsmen have sheep raising in their blood, no doubt.

It is most definitely a circus around here!

I was not aware that Gordo's boy was the same age. That's cool!

Gordo, you must let me in on your secrets for staying sane. Unless of course, you have no secrets and you are not sane. Then we can just start an insane parent's club.

I liked your story, Mags, of the twins accidentally spilling your coffee and trying to clean it up.

Sorry, Maggie. I'm completely nuts. Ask Gary. Just go with it. My boys are 9 and 2½. I'll post a bit more about them later, I think. :-D

It strikes me that Philip, who is nine, probably enjoys running around and sports and bikes. Cameron is 2 1/2 and specializes, thus far, in smiles and shy charm. Luckily, Gordo has a big friendly retriever to play with them. Consider getting a dog, Mags, then you can relax more often and drink coffee while dog and kids play in the mud.

The coffee story is one of my favorites too. They can be so precious.

Gordo, this is interesting. I have a 10 year old son and the two year old twins. We've got very similar age groups. I kinda figured you were nuts - guess we'll all just have to eat Almond Joys and laugh at life together.

Gr, I thought about a dog, but then I'd be cleaning yet one more creatures poop. Not sure I'm ready for that.

Maggie, I haven't figured out if the kids keep me sane or drive me crazy. A little of both, I suspect.

Seeing our man gordo as a little boy, then Cameron smiling away....well, the connection is there.
