bittersweet
(memorial plaque by Gary Rith, and Gary swimming with Jack)
Jack passed away 8 days ago and his graveside memorial came out of the kiln yesterday. We took the other two dogs over to the little tree we planted over him and said a couple of words. We miss him.
I wanted the plaque to look a little watery. Jack swam every month of the year, even winter if there was a little gap in the pond ice. He chased his ball a billion times.
So, Tink's word challenge is bitter and sweet, and together that can describe how a person feels when celebrating a great dog's life.

Ah, sweet Jack. He's missed. Lovely plaque, Gary.
Hi Gary. Am so sorry about your friend Jack. Sounds like he was a lucky dog to have you.
you did a great job on the plaque.
I love looking at all your pictures. I get such a warm feeling. :)
That's wonderful, Gary.
thanks all!
The plaque is GREAT! And the photo is wonderful.
Oh wow. This is so sweet. What a lucky dog to have had you.

The plaque is beautiful Gary, and I always loved that photo. Hugs for you and Maude and everyone there, x
::hugs::
Perfect post for bittersweet!
Nicely done. A nice tribute. :)
Aww sorry about the pooch. That plaque is just perfect.
Yes, indeed: Bittersweet.
I wondered how you would post for WWC this week. Well done.
I love the plaque, beautiful job. Great use of the words too. I bet there are tons of ponds in heaven and they never freeze over. :)
what a great plaque... and very much bittersweet. i went that way with my words as well, but with much less... uh.. substance ;-P
Gary, what a great plaque for Jack. Bittersweet that's for sure.
Oh, I'm so glad you decided on "Little Jack", rather than just his dates. And I like the printing - kind of devil-may-care and playful.
Bittersweet, indeed.
But Jack would be pleased - he gets to play with his ball forever on that plaque...don't worry or hurry about my email - there's PLENTY of time!
My dog died after 16 years with me. She was a stunningly intelligent best friend kind of white labrador and it devastated me to lose her.
I spent her last year carrying her on and off the beaches she loved so well - like Jack, she loved to swim.
I loved the idea of the plaque and the tree. I wrote a poem. It did well.
