Kate and Jim check in

The mysterious but friendly old pals of mine Kate and Jim, shared these pics of their dogs and cats. Applause, please, tres cute, don't you think?

Tompkins County SPCA class of 2007

Look at this petite miracle! In the dark, Penny and Spike together. Spike is so darn friendly and Penny likes him.
NO, I won't bring any more home, really really really. A year and a half ago we had 3 dogs and 2 cats, which was the size of our family for 7 years, but one dog and one cat died of very old ages, but now we are back up to 3 dogs, 2 cats. I said yesterday 'we have a full house again!' and realized that we have a full house poker hand too, 3 of one, 2 of another.

stuff just out

The green and blue and the ice-blue and lue combos look good, I think.

Til Tuesday!

All my slacker Canadian friends are back at work today, goofing off and looking at this blog, so I have to be alert and make my posts extra good.
Aimee Mann, then and now. What a fabulous new wave voice then, singer, songwriter now.
Til Tuesday, 'Voices Carry' for tunes o' the day.

SPIKE

Spike cuddles up next to Jack for a nap. That was quick! I told you he was a friendly cat.

SPIKE the cat

There are 300-500 cats at the SPCA and I am a volunteer there each week, helping people choose them and bring them home. Penny the beagle came home with me the first day of volunteering. Well, ah, Spike the cat has been my pal over there, and we are fostering him here. Except everybody tells me that there is no way he isn't staying with us.
Surprisingly, the 3 dogs love him. He is a big and playful and friendly cat, full of joy. He is one of the most mellow and easy-going, friendly creatures I have ever met, a golden retriver in grey and black stripes. He even chases balls! Our 13 year old not-very-bright fat kitten Emily is mad as hell. We will, ah, see how it goes, but in truth, I cut off Spike's ID collar.....

Mr Potsblog is good in the kitchen

I picked the blueberries in the blueberry cakes, too.
NO you can't have the chocolate cookie recipe, but you're welcome to visit and have some.

puppies!

(work by Gary Rith)
I have liked making mother and puppy little sculptures for awhile, and it is one of those things that make even the hardest heart melt.

big day out!

Mr and Mrs Potsblog at Taughannock Falls, AND Cayuga Creamery now has soy ice cream for people who can't eat dairy! Oh joy!

of pigs and cups!

(cups by Gary Rith)
I am thinking that if I make a 'be joyful' plaque, and the like, the little happy pig should hold its own cup, indicating MUCH to be joyful about.
So, here, I am trying out a stein mug shape BUT with a wavey texture on there, and seeing also what purple and bright blue look like together. They look good.

Lostdayz

Paul is a friend of ours and he plays bass for Lostdayz. They sound really good in these two clips, and they just added a video!
This one goes to eleven.

cuteness!

Penny and Emily, awwwwww

Pretty!

Tunes o' the day from The Cure, which somebody put over a montage of cat, I know, cheezy.

Having guests and having fun with them means very little work completed, etc. I am behind with everything! So let's catch up on the linky love:

First, from our old pal Gordo, we have a camera hand-made out of a pot!
Second, my old pal Bill Barnett has retired his tie blog, and now blogs 80s music, because somebody has to.
And lastly, my old pal Greg is making us a table. He drafted pics on his computer. Wowee!

back in the saddle again

(work by Gary Rith)
Visitors and more visitors today and tomorrow! That's life when you live in paradise and it is summertime, right? Not much work completed, just endless dishes and vacuuming and jollity.
Had a superb glaze firing, as you see in this grouping, which I will take pics of details later. Then with these plaques. As you know, we have 'be joyful' and 'be loving', to which I add 'relax'. Note relaxing piggy here. These are all just notes to self, you see.

I IZ GONNA JUMP ON YOUR BELLY WHILE YOU SLEEP LOL

(Emily makes plans while Penny sleeps)

blueberries!

(Mrs Potsblog, Mr Potsblog, the mother, the sister-in-law Emily)
Blueberries were picked this morning. What do they say about mad dogs and Englishmen and the midday sun? Almost 100 degrees out there (admit it celsius people: 100 sounds HOTTER)

PANAMA!

Not everybody likes Orchestral Maneuvers in the Dark. Hey, here's some Van Halen, 'Panama', OVER THE TOP.

THURSDAY! Really!

Busy busy busy day, Thursday. More later, OK?

OMD, however it is spelt out, 'If you leave me' for some 80s angst. I liked it the first time around, now this stuff is popular in an ironic hipster way, just like we listened to Frank and Elvis when we was younger.

And finally, 'Modern art obsession', a blog about just that.

One year, 1383+ posts

(CM's little toesies)
OK, August marks one year's blogging, about 1400 posts if you count the myspace acct where this began, AND, speaking of CM, my first internet customer, OVER (drumroll please)
OVER 100 items sold. And yes, coincidentally, CM was the first and also the most recent blog internet customer. Over 100 items sold here!!! Thanks everybody, esp. CM for spending THE MOST and also sending us these tunes o' the day:

Fogerty's Cove, a Stan Rogers tune, performed at Stanfest this summer. If you'll excuse me, I gotta go find someone to dance with me

EXTREMELY important teapot post

(work by Gary Rith plus the St Louis Gateway Arch)
OK, down below you have info on the Ithaca Art Trail. There is a huge opening exhibit opening in early October, composed of leading painters and potters in this area, and I wanted to make something slick and new, that I hadn't done before, but could wow the other artists and the crowds too. After thinking for weeks and months, along the lines of the yellow teapot and doggy teapot pictured, but new, I sketched this pencil doodle: I wanted to make a teapot like THAT. And I did! I am soooo excited!!!! It turned out well.
So, I made the body and such, whacked and pushed and shaped the parts while still damp, made a handle like the St Louis arch 'cause it is a COOL tapered in the middle shape (do you know how hard it is to make a handle that tapers in the middle?). And so, there we go. Now I shall make more of them.
I am in the mood lately for things I havn't tried or made before. So I am setting out...
Tunes o' the day later, I have to get to work.

August 2006-August 2007

Somewhere this month marks 12 months of pottersblog blogging. Yippee! How many entries, 1300-1400? Something like that. That's alot of nonsense. I started out on myspace and then, because of the unsolicited friend requests from young women in bikinis, started this on blogger. A year ago! Wow. Thanks for hanging with me.

So what now? Have a look at the Ithaca Art Trail site and my own page there. The Ithaca Art Trail hosts open studio weekends, and makes it easy for tourists from New Jersey to find my studio and give me money. You don't have to be from New Jersey to give me money though.
