no schmaltzy Christmas tunes!

I find shopping with canned Christmas tunes VERY irritating. I am no Grinch, though. My 3 favorite Christmas songs.

Waitresses Christmas Wrapping--offbeat and funny.

Walkin' round in women's underwear--the opposite of a wholesome, feel good holiday song.

OH, and best of all, the skating scene from Charlie Brown Christmas. It is so melancholy and sweet.

I like Steve Lawrence and Eydie Gourme singing that sleigh ride song. Reminds me of my childhood, cuz my mom had that record.

My favorite is O Holy Night. My dad used to have a copy of Mario Lanza singing it. Brought goosebumps up every time you heard it...

Oh, and I hate shopping with the canned Christmas music too. I used to work as a cake decorator for a large grocery chain here. That first song you put on here? That was one they had on their track that they played ALL day. You about went crazy listening to all the cutesy songs. They were afraid to play anything that might be construed as religious...and there are only so many versions of Rudolph, and Jingle Bells!

The idea that we have to forego so many of the lovely carols because they're attached somehow to religion is ridiculous, at least for me. It's the season, it's celebrated, so sing it, I say. And I'll be more than happy to be invited to join anyone in their celebrations if invited and I'll try to sing along with them, too. Music is good for you, in and of itself. And, O, Holy Night has been my favorite throughout my life I had a record, 78 rpm, with Dennis Day singing it. He was the naive tenor on the old Jack Benny radio show. Happy memories!
