DENIS TURNS 44
(Bennington College class of 1987, featuring me and my old pal Denis.)
When I said I wanted to go to Bennington, a college without grades, exams, frats, sports, inhibitions or very many men, my dad said "why would you want to go to that crazy school for rich girls?" or maybe it was "why would you want to go to that school for crazy rich girls?". Well, it was and is a school for crazy rich girls, and the answer lies in the question: what young man wouldn't want to go to a school for crazy rich girls? Denis felt the same way, and we met 25 years ago as freshmen in Leigh house, two little weenies amongst a few other freshman boy weenies. Time flies, eh? Here's our graduation picture, 21 years ago, and there were around 80 graduates that year, half my life ago!
The point here,of course, is to point out my old pal Denis at my side here. Today Denis turns 44, so this Bud's for you, Big D.

Happy Birthday, Denis!
(I'm sure Celeste will be planning something special, just for you ;)
gary, you're the best!!! i'm very blessed to have you in my life.
thanks kate & jim. much appreciated :)
as for celeste, well, i'm sure she's far too busy with maurice to know i even exist anymore :(
I am actually very bad to Denis. I filled his room with crumpled newspaper once, when we were seniors. FILLED his room.
Happy Birthday Denis!!
Then yesterday? I saw one of our classmates acting in a movie, which was a surprise, and mentioned it to Denis and he told me about the time that_______________. Well, anyway.
Pfft. That sounds like the PERFECT school for young dudes. I love the picture. You haven't changed a bit.
thanks sleepingsentinel. hope to see you soon!
it's true gary does terrible things to me and he tells everyone my secrets but as much as i try to dislike him, i just can't get angry at him...he's too good of a friend. and i know it's all done with humor and in fun.
Denis=Saint
Gary=_______? (sinner? pest? rotten???)
No worries, people, I have a surprise in store for the birthday boy. See you tonight, Big D!
Gary, any thinking person in the receiving end of a room full of crumpled newspaper would realize the amount of work that would go into said prank and appreciate it. You certainly wouldn't go to all that effort for someone you didn't like. :-)
Happy Birtdhay, Denis!
now there's a way of looking at it, Gord!
CELESTE! Behave!
thanks gordo!
celeste!!! i can't wait!!! why do i now have the feeling that this is going to be the best birthday i ever had.
Here's me echoing the birthday wishes, Denis, and, surely no person who really didn't like his 'victim' could possibly devote the amount of time and effort that little prank took: first collecting such an enormous amount of paper and then crumpling and stuffing it into the room. I found myself hoping it was a very SMALL room! Maybe eveb a broom closet?
Bennington, huh? I gave VERY serious thought toward attending there but Wound up at Stephens College since Maude Adams was their star attraction in the Drama Department and I was an acting major!
There is a reason why they call him BIG D.
Stephens College is probably the OTHER school for crazy rich girls.
And Jaysus Celeste, isn't that a little vulgar? And revealing? This is a family friendly blog!
Well now - you must tell us all about it tomorrow, Celeste. Unless your cousin CM, finally puts a stop to all this. After all - what would Maurice think!!!
"some people call me the space cowboy, some people call me Maurice, ewwewwoo oowwww..."
who the hell cares what maurice thinks...tonight is my night w/celeste cuz it's my b-day.
A little late to the party, and a good thing at that by the look of things. Happy Birthday, D! Please have celeste home by Wednesday.
