crazy zebra pot

(stuff by GR)
This is the silly pot being glazed below. The glaze goes on green, fires up red. This zebra is pretty excited, but his neck is somewhat giraffe like, I will admit. Also: I had forgotten the turtles. So, time to make turtles, which you may be able to see on one or two mugs and bowls here.

You gots a whole zoo-ful happenin'!
How come (and don't say it came in a truck like my dumb ole Gr. 6 teacher used to say!)glaze changes colour when fired?

Many look similarish--light yellow becomes shiny yellow. Red is a TRICKY one--for some reason, tin oxide and chrome oxide look green but when fired turn a nice red.

I wanna know how you get those lines in the side, do you use your finger or a shaping tool?

O ho ho! I don't think so , not with other potters lurking around looking for ideas. Bring your family over to the studio some day and I will show you all how these things are done.
