Miss Potter

As a man who sits around making cute little animals all day, you may not be surprised to hear that I am a fan of Beatrix Potter. We watched the movie 'Miss Potter' last night and it is superb.
Her painting skills are so evocative and exciting, and the scenery makes you want to book a flight to England.

That Tale of Peter Rabbit remains one of my favorite books. My mother read it to me just about every night when I was little. I will have to add that movie to my Netflix. Thanks for the suggestion!

My favorites were always "The Tale of Two Bad Mice" and "The Tale of Tom Kitten". There's a sequel to "Tom Kitten" called "The Rolly-Polly Pudding" which Mrs. Pottsblog once commented she thought was "kind of kinky." Tom Kitten gets tied up!

wow.. sub-text and themes in Miss Potter's work.. whodathunkit! =)

I remember way back when Shell (or was it Sunoco) gas stations has the breakfast plates and bowls and mugs set of her stories.. fill up enough gas.. you get a collectable.. and there were good quality if I remember. Alas we never got any in our house - all too old and 'mature' for that (sigh silly people) LOL

the Lake district is beautiful.

Miss Potter's home is a major Japanese tourist destination.

Don't talk too loud on this subject, folks, or Walt Disney Corp will steal the stories and they'll never be the same again!

I need to go buy some of Beatrix Potter's books for my grandson. I was trying to think of classics, and I thank you for the reminder. My kids LOVED these books when they were small.

Wonder if Ms. Potter ever drew a beagle in any of her stories?

I just found out the Uno Pizzeria in my neighborhood is having a special pizza this weekend, the "Best in Show" cheese pizza in honor of a certain beagle.
