special

(variety of pots by Gary Rith)
A lot to explain here. I am in a gallery show in May, and I need some HOT pieces to go into it. The purple teapot with the dog on it is MY personal teapot, kept because I love it plus it had cracked in the firing when I made it 3 years ago. (CM has been to this house and she has had her Earl Grey in this teapot) So I wanted to make a new teapot with a looped handle on top, purple glazed, with that same little dog on top.
Kete and Jim asked for a cow spoon rest. I hadn't made one like this before, but you see 2 being glazed in the bottom picture. I realized I could make a little udder on the bottom. I think I need one to give my mom for Mother's day....

A cow spoon rest? I know about wooden spoons and sugar spoons and soup spoons, but Kate & Jim have cow spoons? Whoa.

GREAT!! Be sure to have lots of great things at your show. We're taking a summer vacation, and I'll need gifts for all my family out west. Oh, and I would like a butter dish, pretty please! You are taking orders, right?!

PS - darn the snow

Oh for heaven's sake! ha! Gordo - my nephew and his wife and their two little boys are dairy farmers. They're moving to upstate NY next month and I thought the cow mugs and a cow spoon rest would be a nice housewarming gift from their Auntie. Plus, not wanting to leave the great nephews out, I ordered piggy banks too!

BTW, Gary, I like 'em. I think she'll be thrilled.

I like that teapot with the black handle and lid. (no, I'm not buying it, but it looks really sharp. What color is it going to be?)

thanks, Knight, it is my daily work as a slightly experimental potter
