The Plasmatics: I remember before MTV a live performance on some variety show in the late 70s. They were something alright. Wendy O Williams was wearing a little whipped cream here and there, and nothing else, and she used a chain saw on her guitar, which had that sort of apocalyptic sound that wakes you up. I liked The Specials more, and other bands, but to an adolescent boy, a lead singer wearing just whipped cream.....well anyway, I just got one of their albums for a quarter at a garage sale. Course, I don't have a turntable but...

Back when The New Music was the only place to go for videos, the Plasmatics were on pretty high rotation.
(JD Roberts you may know as John Roberts, currently of CNN, all growed up now.)
I think the show you were talking about is the late show called Fridays
it was like saterday night live but on friday...it had michael richards and larry david on the show...they had the best music....plasmatics cut the tv in half on that show they may have done it elsewhere, like every night at a show, but they had stray cats, devo all the early new wave groups....great show....
