me first!
The postcard came from the vet today. Our vet is a home visit vet (we have 3 dogs and 2 cats, so it is easier for her to come to us. She operates out of a big truck, but she is a tiny little triathelete). Penny needs her shots and general exam. I called:
me: Hello doctor, I got your postcard about Penny.
vet: Oh, yes, and how is she?
me: oh, fine, just needs her shots and medications for fleas and heartworm
vet: right
me: Howse May first?
vet: WHAT? What did you say?
me: Howse May first?
vet: ME FIRST?
me: huh? I said how is May first?
vet: OH! I thought you said 'Me first', but you'd need a human doctor!
me: (flustered and confused) I asked if I could have her appt. on May first.
vet: Oh, of course, how about 10 am?
Tres embarrassing. Me first? What did she think I was asking? Don't answer that. When I was in school I was in speech therapy. The basic reason why, according to my wife, is that I mumble and mutter when I talk, my explanation is that I am too lazy to enunciate clearly, and the speech therapist told me I couldn't prononce certain sounds so it sounds like I slur my words.
Like I said, LAZY.

LOL ... I don't think people can get heartworm, can they? ;-)

Must be the 'accent', Gary.

ewwwwww!
celeste, you're back! i've missed you!
Sure you have. That's why you haven't returned any of my calls.
DENIS! You cad!
Enunciation is easily fixable with a bit of practice. All you do is put a cork between your teeth and speak as clearly as possible so that people understand you in spite of the cork. Then when you take out the cork it's easy as pie to enunciate. You have all those corks now----get to work! :)
No, I never said you mumble and muttter I said it's hard to hang on your every word, duhlink, when you're facing the other way!
