About Me
- gary rith
- Gary Rith is a full-time studio potter and also an instructor of pottery at Cornell University's Pot Shop. Gary started learning pottery in 1983. In 1985 he served as an apprentice to Dean White of Deansboro, NY and earned a bachelor's degree in art from Bennington College in 1987. He has been a full-time sculptor and potter since 1997. Gary started his business in New Hamspshire, where he was selected as a member of the League of New Hampshire Craftsmen in 2004 and in 2005 was named one of New Hampshire's Emerging Ceramics Artists. He moved to the Ithaca, NY area in 2006, near where he grew up, and is happily making pots and sculpture in a purple house on Fall Creek. Gary likes to laugh, and his first goal is to have fun making pots.

Yeah, that's a lot of snow!
Here in PA, we got maybe an inch or two... but now it's sleeting. Danger, Danger!
We're getting our snow now. So far not too bad. But it is pretty coming down.
Side question: whatever happened to those moose?
I have to work on the brown, Mags. That was one of those mishaps last week. You may have seen that I described a few events in the studio as depressing, the moose were a bit spotty looking.
I am guessing, Abigail, that it is a snow day for you? Yippee!
Oh I'm sorry Gary. I don't know how I missed that. But not to worry, you'll be rockin that brown in no time.
That looks great, Gary. It could be worse. I'm told Oswego is 2 inches shy of 12 feet of snow in the last week. Even a snow nut thinks that's a tad excessive.
I'll take some pics at home when I'm excavating ....
