the front door disappears

A little shoveling today, then back to the pots. The plow dumps all the snow from the street in front of our house. The road is clear, which is a plus. We got maybe 30 inches yesterday? North of here they are getting a lot more.

Thank goodness my dad is in Arizona for several weeks. I think there are a few FEET of snow in Malone. UGH.

It makes the five inches we have in Chicago look like dust.

Stay warm!!!

Thanks for the photos of snow. It's hard to believe you can miss the cold, but you do. It's been spring here for most of the winter.

Having grown up near Buffalo and lived only in snowy places, I don't feel too nostalgic for winter--too many scary 30 inch snow storms. I wanna get a big snowblower though, either that or a case of wine so that if I use the neighbor's I can give them a nice gift after.

I spent an early December week in Victoria, BC several years ago and I found the lack of an actual winter depressing. It's cleansing and makes for darn certain that one appreciates teh warm weather when it does arrive.

Besides, you can do stuff outside in the snow.

my parents have a driveway nearly a kilometer long, on their little hillside. my dad has a MONSTER snowblower for the tractor, plus of course, the scoop and the scraper. I fear that even a fourth of July sale on snowblowers migt prove expensive, maybe that case of gift wine is cheaper?

we got 46 inches; jay peak 59! i must have shoveled 18 hours in the pass two days. as much as i hate shoveling that much, i still like snow.

ah, see, it is the shoveling and driving that are the trouble...

Yep. The more it snows, the more my "electric showshovel" proves itself to be a bit of a toy. We don't have a huge driveway, so we won't need a big snowblower. I'll bet they're cheaper up here out of the snow belt area, Gary. :-)

It wouldn't be a big deal, but the mess the plows pushes up from the street covers both driveways (they are two small parking spots) and the whole yard with a very heavy cover. I am thinking maybe a big ariens or toro---bet those things go for more than a thou, although we know a guy who sells reworked used snow blowers too....
