Flock of Seagulls

Flock of Seagulls, 'I ran', uber 80s New Wave Techno Pop Dance Tune. What were people doing to their hair in the 80s and why? What were we thinking?
Murky dreams visited by a wide variety of Canadian friends. Must locate hot pot of coffee...

lights camera action

Basically, I am a recluse, and I like it that way. Perhaps fame is calling? Well, if not fame, exposure. I read recently that the number one ambition of 80 percent of our youth in America want to be famous, on TV. Weeeelllll...so earlier in the week I was asked to donate to an art auction on TV. When the station came to the gallery and got the teapot I entered along with the artwork of four of my friends, they said 'HEY! We could put you five on TV! How about we schedule you for a half hour?' (for what, chatting about art??? for a half hour?????)
Well, uh, the first impulse is no, the second impulse is to go with my friends, but first visit a tavern before arriving at the studio....
(if this happens, it will be WSKG Binghamton, around late March, stay tuned)

February 14th

In retail, of course, we look waaaaayyy ahead, which is why I am always tired of Christmas on Dec, 26 and tear down the decorations: I have prepared for the holiday for months! This is true now looking ahead to Valentine's. Luckily I have plenty of romantic items in the works, this is a petite ring box with 2 happy bunnies, which if it does not sell in February has the advantage of working for Easter too. Coming soon, the usual hugging pigs, elephants, dogs, and maybe some inter-racial couples like a dog hugging a bunny.

THANK Canada, for SLOAN!

A little alternative rock pop? Suddenly Nova Scotia's Sloan is in the 'New Yorker' and then featured on NPR yesterday. What a treat! As the reporter said 'they are very big in Canada', but having been around so long, perhaps surprising they are not bigger in the lower 48 plus 2.
So, delirious recovering-from-a-cold dreams with burglary, a shotgun, a shot in a burglar's posterior, and a visit to the NYPD station house in mid-town, which is not a nice place, trust me.

a birthday

AA Milne was born today, and those stories were and are fantastic, even if The Mouse has continually looked for ways to schmaltz his work and squeeze it for every last penny.

let's talk inspiration

When I was five I saw Pinocchio, which is a strange but wonderful story. The beginning was fascinating: I wanted to be Gepetto, the toy maker. So, now, in a way, I am.

WSKG auction, take 2

Changed my mind, I know, splitting hairs here, but I am submitting this teaset to the WSKG television auction. I made several of these celadon elephant teasets early last fall, the best one remains. As I said, there are two tiers for this program and a panel of judges makes the decision, bottom ends up in an online auction, top ends up in an exhibit then on TV plus can win a prize. Therefore, my tippity toppity work must go.

A Perfect Circle

Tunes O' the Day, 'Judith' by A Perfect Circle, music our old pal Celeste will surely love. I was most sick yesterday and the day before, made no pots Wedenesday, instead recovered with several hundred pages of Henry the 8th and a few inspirational hard rock videos. 'Judith' here is superb, try also their 'Magdalena' live.

red nose society

What do I have in common with Bozo today and why? Blame Canada!!!

year of the pig

(glass pig from Steuben)

Blame Canada

'Blame Canada' from South Park. The funny thing about this, when you think about it, isn't that Canada is this big friendly and easy target, but the ignorance and intolerance of the singers. You have to blame somebody for your problems these days, so why not Canada? Or even better, French Canada?

WSKG auction

I was asked to consider donatng an item to the public radio/TV affiliate in Binghamton WSKG, and will give them a teapot. They have two tiers. The top tier is viewed on TV and could win a prize, the rest goes into the online auction.

pigs in a blanket, of snow

There is art in my yard, slowly disappearing under the white stuff. My flying pig, and the sitting pig made by a friend, in a winter wonderland, courtesy of nasty winds blowing in from Canada.

The Snooty Pig

The Snooty Pig. An Irish Bar? With indoor golf? Up the road? Time to plan a field trip.

history of my piggy banks, part 3

Gordo asks how long I have made piggies. I made my first in 1989, and the fourth or fifth I ever made is this brown fellow on the left. My mom has one that would have been number three, if she still has it. (must look) This guy has a cork under. On the right is a recent piggy, and in the middle the NEW AND IMPROVED small, sitting piggy who can hold coins too. There is some evolution.

B52s, Mesopotamia

Turn your clock back, about 6 or 8000 years ago....Mesopotamia.
Reading about the B52s is a rather long saga. Well worth it. As Kate Pierson said 'we're just a tacky little dance band from Georgia'. just what the world needed in the late 70s, the Talking Heads and the B52s.
Looonnng dream last night of reggae music at the state fair where I met Alan and watched football.

Olivia

'Olivia', a plucky little pig. I have her books and a 3 foot tall Olivia in the studio. I will not spoil any surprises, but these are a must read for the 5 and under set, along with porcine lovers.

Brown Betty, the apple recipe not the teapot

My old pal Alan writes that he didn't realize his teapot had a name, he thought Brown Betty was a dessert. Yes, same name for a teapot and a recipe!
Brown Betty, the recipe, not the teapot

INGREDIENTS
2 cups dry bread crumbs
1 cup brown sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon, divided
1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
10 cups sliced tart apple
1/3 cup butter, melted
1/3 cup applesauce
1 1/2 teaspoons white sugar
DIRECTIONS
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
In a small bowl, combine bread crumbs, brown sugar, 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon and cloves. Place half of the sliced apples in a 9x13 inch baking dish. Top with half the bread crumb mixture. Repeat layers. Pour melted butter over all and cover with applesauce. Combine remaining cinnamon with white sugar and sprinkle on top.
Bake in preheated oven 1 hour, until apples are tender and mixture is bubbly.

Here, I made a silly porcine doodle for year of the pig--now I need to make some.

Coming soon, the year of the pig

(Mutts, originally 1/1/07)
That is most auspicious: the year of the pig. Starting in a few weeks.
