Penny and Buster check in

Wikipedia tells us
"it has been suggested that the word (beagle) derives from the French begueule (meaning "open throat", or more colloquially, "loudmouth")... Other possibilities include the French beugler (meaning "to bellow") and the German begele (meaning "to scold")."
Yes, as our neighbors heard early on Sunday, very early, our new dog is a beagle, and YES, she is a loud mouth.

Ah - the beagle 'bellow'. Growing up my stepfather raised beagles for hunting. He kept them up over a hill we had in our backyard. We could still hear them howl though, during the night. Cute pics, Gary.

my husband and I have the two exact same dogs, except, Ninabina, our beagle is 13 and Bettis (as in Jerome, retired NFL Steeler) came into our home last fall (rescued). Ninabina is teaching him well :) Both are great family dogs and yes, at 13 she STILL is a loud mouth. I bought a hare & Tortoise bowl at the festival from you. Many good comments when I brought it into work! I'll buy more!
