FOUND: a houseful of cats and dogs

(Penny the beagle, Emily on the chair, lower, with Spike.)
Tink has the weekly photo challenge going on, curve and found.
My cats and dogs are all former strays. Penny the beagle was found last April in a snowstorm, having apparently just given birth to a litter of puppies, who were never found (I hope she had them in somebody's house then got lost!!!). Emily was a kitten found in a barn, and Spike was found hanging around a neighborhood near our house, when the semester ended (there are many abandoned pets when college term ends). They are all magnificent and friendly and wonderful companions for a person who works at home. (Buster and Jack, our big dogs, slept through this photo series)
The Boston Globe has an excellent report in the wake of the Westminster best of show winner, the beagle Uno. Beagles are one of the most popular dogs in the US, but often wind up in shelters because people don't realize they are active and need to be walked and played with, plus they're noisy. They were, of course, bred to run fields in a pack all day. A great pet for a person like me, in the countryside, with a nice fenced in yard.

THAT's what kelli needs... a fenced yard (huge) and to live in the coutnryide with all those lovely smells to follow- and little traffic/dangers.. then she can have friends over like Penny!

Aw. I love that. Pets who pick you are always the best.

Cleopatra, the caramel queen tabby, is like that--found just for us more than 4 years ago. Our realtors found our house for us, then they found us a cat to go in the house.

Growing up we had a neighbor with a beagle named Twinkle. And he was VERY loud and active. But cute, and impossible not to like. Always wanted to be at the center of the action.
