more piggy love

Is "Charlotte's Web" the ultimate storybook for this vegetarian potter pig lover? Having read and enjoyed the book and its illustrations several times, I ask 'do we need a new movie of this classic?' Considering the picture of the cute little Wilbur and Fern above, the answer is 'YES'. I have heard that the author EB White's grandchildren would visit and play with his pigs in the barn, and were, ahem, shocked to find he planned to baconize them. The man who created Wilbur!
Toot and Puddle pictured here also, sharing some porcine holiday love.

ding on the weekend that pigs actually go crazy when kept in factory farm barns. It wasn't crazy PETA propaganda, either. I have a business card froma lady who raises free-range pork just east of town. I'll have to go see her one of these days.

To each his own is all I'll say on that matter.

I'm so looking forward to the post-Christmas slowdown, so I can get back to cooking properly again. THere's too much going on right now.

My parents raised pigs for a while. One year we pulled into the garage and hanging from the rafters at the back was a pig carcass. Best bacon I ever had. And the cracklings. Oh my!

cm, there is something in your sweet little self that enjoys tormenting vegetarian pig lovers, isn't there?

mmmm crackling. okok.. I like just about ALL food.. INCLUDING some great yummy vegetarian dishes.. hmm.. now.. if an omnivore eats a 'vegetarian dish' is it still a vegetarian dish? Or simply more greens one must get through before back to the meat?

Im in for the beers.

I loved the book but saw a preview and now you're probably going to laugh heartily at me, but I'm not sure I want to see the movie because the spider creeps me out. I hate spiders! Terrified of them. I am after all a girl.

But Maggie, they named the movie fter her!

I know. I'm crazy right? Since I have three children, I fear I'm going to be roped into watching this one anyways at some point. I guess I'd better start getting used to the idea. You can probably imagine what happens when we're watching Lord of the Rings at Shelob's Lair! I hide my eyes till its over. Ha ha.

There is the animated version, I understand.
