fluting secrets revealed

Gary Rith demonstrates carving a fluted pot.

Gord has asked how I get the lines/channels onto pots. Simple tool and a little practice. You will notice my red nose here from an early fall cold. I used chili to effect a cure--spicy does things chicken soup can only dream of.

And throw in a few strings, just to help in getting 'em off the wheel. Loved the lesson, Gary. And I HAD been wondering "how does he do that"? In the leather stage, then?

Ahhh! I thought you just took your fingers and pressed them into the side repeatedly. Sort of like my husband trying to wake me from a dead sleep.
