You can just tell by all the photos what a good dog he is.

How is he doing, Gary? It is easy to see why you love him. Loyal, and sweet.

What's the matter w/ Jack, Gary?

Alzheimers, tumor, diabetes, kidneys gone? the vet drew blood and will call with results soon--he is 12 and a half and the vet says whatever it turns out to be he does not have long.

I had to put our first dog, Toby, down. I was completely and utterly unprepared for the grief of losing her. My heart hurts for you, Gary.

Mine, too, Gary. There's not much that hurts worse than losing a beloved dog. I still can weep remembering my Pete. He was just about the same age as Jack. Never got up the courage to have another dog.

thanks! he is still quite cheerful, as retrievers usually are, and is excited about the snow out there

I love that about dogs, not having to worry about the things that are wrong with them they enjoy their lives as fully as they can, every day, regardless. I think that's lovely. Gary, my heart is hurting for you too
